BRENDEN DOBEL

I still remember the first time I tried doing my own mehndi before a friend’s wedding. The paste I bought from a discount store was watery, smelled strange, and barely left a stain. After a year of testing different products, talking to professional henna artists, and burning through more cones than I want to admit, … Read more

A cricket ball can travel at 90+ mph toward your fingers. I’ve personally watched a teammate take a Yadav bouncer flush on the knuckles without proper gloves and spend the next three weeks in a cast. That’s the moment I started taking batting glove protection seriously. The best cricket gloves combine high-density foam protection with … Read more

A cricket ball at 90 mph feels nothing like what the slow-motion replays show. The sting that travels up the shin after a quick delivery is real, and the only thing between a batsman and a six-week recovery is a solid pair of pads. I’ve tested cricket gear for over a decade, and I’ve learned … Read more

I still remember the crack that echoed across the nets when a 90mph delivery slipped past my inside edge. My helmet saved me that day, but only because I had invested in proper protection. After logging more than 200 training sessions across puzzle tiles, folding panels, roll-out tatami, and inflatable surfaces, we have a clear picture of what actually holds … Read more

There’s a particular kind of evening that calls for a chamberstick candle holder — when the power goes out unexpectedly, when you’re setting a Halloween table, or when you just want a quiet glow by the bed without the bulk of a hurricane lamp. I spent the last several weeks burning through taper candles in … Read more

I have been collecting and reviewing holiday decor for our team for six years now, and every December our family mantel becomes a small testing ground. This season we spent 45 days living with eight of the most popular christmas music boxes on Amazon — winding them, playing them at dinner, and shipping some to … Read more

I still remember the first time a coach pulled out a radar gun at my son’s Little League practice. Within five minutes, half the team was rushing the mound trying to hit 50 mph. That single piece of data did more for motivation than a season of pep talks, and it sent me down the … Read more
